Cream together the butter or margarine
and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually blend in the eggs and
milk, then fold in the flour, baking powder and spices, then the
fruit. Spoon the mixture into a greased and lined 18 cm/7 in cake tin
(pan) and bake in a preheated oven at 160°C/325°F/gas mark 3 for 1 1/4
hours until well risen and golden brown.
