Bring the fruit, sugar, butter or
margarine and water to the boil, then cover and simmer gently for 15
minutes. Leave to cool. Beat in the eggs and flour, then spoon the
mixture into a greased and lined 20 cm/8 in cake tin and bake in a
preheated oven at 150°C/300°F/gas mark 3 for 1½ hours until browned
on top and shrinking away from the sides of the tin.
