Method:
Place the almonds, butter or margarine,
sugar and milk in a pan with 15 ml/1 tbsp of the flour. Heat gently,
stirring, until blended, adding the remaining flour if necessary to
make the mixture hold together. Place spoonfuls well apart on a
greased and floured baking (cookie) sheet and bake in a preheated oven
at 180°C/ 350°F/gas mark 4 for 8 minutes until light brown. Leave to
cool on the baking sheet for about 30 seconds, then shape them into
curls around the handle of a wooden spoon. If they become too cool to
shape, return them to the oven for a few seconds to warm again before
shaping the remainder.
